Suscipe — Take, Lord, and receive
The prayer of the Contemplation to Attain Love, at the close of the Spiritual Exercises (n. 234) of St Ignatius of Loyola. Written at Manresa between 1522 and 1535. It is the goal of the Ignatian retreat: the exercitant returns to God all that he has received, asking only for his love and his grace.
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will — all that I have and possess.
You have given all to me; to you, Lord, I return it. All is yours: dispose of it wholly according to your will.
Give me only your love and your grace; that is enough for me. Amen.
In Latin
Suscipe, Domine, universam meam libertatem.
Amen.
