Who Writes Here

My name is Guilherme. I am not a priest, nor a theologian, nor an authority on anything. I am a layman and a father, trying to keep up with work and home and, in the middle of it all, to grow in holiness.

I am a sinner — and I write from here, not from a pulpit. Lumen Lectio was born of a need of my own: when I read the Gospel of the day, the life of a saint, or a page from a spiritual classic and stop to write about it, I truly learn. I find myself thinking about how it applies to my real week — at work, at home, in the cross I am carrying right now.

That is what I am after: to understand what Jesus asks of me in each situation. I do not ask to be freed from my cross; I ask God for the strength to carry it. I have my duties in this world and I try to fulfill them, but I know that my duties toward God are greater — and that, deep down, the two speak to one another.

That is why this site is, above all, my notebook. Everything here belongs to the Church: Scripture, saints, the Catechism, prayers, and approved classics. I only gather it, read along, and try to apply it. If it serves you as it serves me, it was worth it.
