Prayer to St Rita of Cascia
A traditional prayer from the Shrine of Cascia in Umbria, prayed for centuries by those who turn to St Rita as advocate of impossible and desperate causes. It reproduces the formula consecrated in the Manuale del devoto di Santa Rita (Cascia, Monastery of Saint Rita).
O glorious Saint Rita, advocate of impossible and desperate causes, you who received from the Crucified the privilege of bearing on your forehead one of the thorns of his crown, obtain for me the grace to live and die patiently, as you did, in union with Christ crucified.
Remember, O Saint Rita, your wonders in favour of the afflicted; and, hearkening to my supplications, intercede with the Lord for this grace which I so much desire (mention petition).
Teach me your way of forgiveness, of patience in domestic trials, and of surrender to the will of God in all things. By your intercession, O spouse of Christ crucified, hear my prayer and help me in my need. Amen.
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory be.
