Prayer to St Raphael the Archangel

A traditional prayer to the Archangel Raphael, whose name in Hebrew means God heals. His whole story is told in the book of Tobit (Old Testament, deuterocanonical): under the human appearance of Azariah, he accompanied young Tobias on his journey, healed the blindness of old Tobit, and protected the holy marriage with Sarah. At the end he revealed his identity, saying: «I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand and serve before the Glory of the Lord» (Tob 12:15). Liturgical feast on 29 September with Michael and Gabriel.

Glorious St Raphael the Archangel, physician of God, who, under the human appearance of Azariah, accompanied young Tobias on his journey (Tob 5-6), healed the blindness of old Tobit, protected the holy marriage with Sarah (Tob 7-8), and at last revealed your identity saying: «I am Raphael, one of the seven angels who stand and serve before the Glory of the Lord» (Tob 12:15):

intercede for us, who journey upon this earth. Heal the infirmities of body and soul; protect travellers on their ways; sustain the betrothed on the path of Christian marriage; enlighten the young in their decisions.
