Prayer of Pope Francis for Vocations
Closing prayer of Pope Francis’ Message for the 55th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, dated 3 December 2017 (First Sunday of Advent) and addressed to the Fourth Sunday of Easter of 2018 (22 April). Theme: Listening, discerning, living the Lord’s call. The prayer entrusts to Mary every Christian vocation, especially to the priesthood, religious life, and marriage.
Lord, good and faithful Father, awaken in all of us the desire to live for you in fidelity and generosity.
Christ Jesus, our Master, you who call each one by name, give us the grace to listen, to discern, and to live with joy the call you address to us: through a vocation to the priesthood, to consecrated life, to marriage, to lay work in the vineyard of the Kingdom.
Holy Spirit, raise up among us generous young people who answer here I am, without fear of the demands of the Gospel; sustain seminarians and novices; gladden religious communities; and renew all the faithful in the enthusiasm of the Christian response.
Mary, young woman of Nazareth, who listened to the Word, discerned its meaning, and lived it entirely, obtain for us a docile heart to welcome the Lord’s call in our lives. Amen.
