Prayer to Blessed Pauline Jaricot — for the propagation of the faith

French laywoman, born in Lyon in 1799. In her early twenties she founded, on 3 May 1822, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith — a network of small groups who prayed and offered a small alms for the missions —, from which the Pontifical Mission Societies would grow. In 1826 she also founded the Living Rosary, in which each member prays one decade daily, so that the whole rosary rises unceasingly from many hearts. She died poor and forgotten in Lyon in 1862. She was beatified in Lyon on 22 May 2022, in the name of Pope Francis. Memorial: 9 January.

O God, who inspired in Blessed Pauline Jaricot an ardent desire that all peoples might know your Son, and made use of her to kindle in the world the work of the propagation of the faith: grant us her missionary zeal and her trust in the humble prayer of the little ones; and grant that, joining our prayer and the little we have, we may cooperate in the salvation of all peoples. Through her intercession, sustain the missionaries and the poorest Churches. Through Christ our Lord.
