Prayer after Communion

I give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, that you have deigned, not through any merits of mine but out of the condescension of your goodness alone, to satisfy me, a sinner, your unworthy servant, with the precious Body and Blood of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this Holy Communion may not be for my judgement and condemnation, but for my forgiveness and salvation.

May it be for me an armour of faith and a shield of good will. May it be the cleansing of my vices, the extinction of all concupiscence and lust, the increase of charity and patience, of humility and obedience, and of all the virtues; a firm defence against the snares of all enemies, both visible and invisible; the perfect quieting of all my evil impulses, both fleshly and spiritual; a firm cleaving to you, the one true God; and a happy consummation of my last end.

I beg you to bring me, a sinner, to that ineffable banquet where you, with your Son and the Holy Spirit, are the true light of your saints, fullness of joy, eternal gladness, consummate delight, and perfect happiness. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

In Latin

Amen.
