Mary, I am all yours — ejaculatory prayer and meditation

The ejaculatory prayer «O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you» is one of the most diffused and most dense of Christianity. It was solemnly indulgenced by Pius IX by decree of 24 May 1864, in view of the dogmatic definition of the Immaculate Conception proclaimed in the apostolic constitution Ineffabilis Deus of 8 December 1854. It is also the invocation engraved on the Miraculous Medal given by Our Lady to St Catherine Labouré on 27 November 1830 at the Rue du Bac, Paris. To this ejaculatory prayer is joined in Catholic tradition the brief formula of St Louis de Montfort: «Totus tuus»«I am all yours» (cf. prayer #2 of this same phase). This prayer is the Marian parallel of the «Sacred Heart of Jesus, I trust in you» (Phase 3s, prayer #5) and may be recited at the same moments: temptation, trial, communion, on falling asleep, at any hour of the day.

The ejaculatory prayer of the Miraculous Medal (Pius IX 1864):

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

(repeat three times, or throughout the day, or a hundred times as a proper chaplet)

The brief formula of St Louis de Montfort:

Totus tuus, Maria. I am all yours, O Mary.

Meditation for daily use:

Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother: at this hour which I am now living — morning or afternoon, joy or pain, peace or struggle — I place my little life in your pure hands, which never touched sin, which never knew pride.

I do not trust in myself. I do not trust in my strengths. I do not trust in my passing feelings. I trust in you, O Mary, in the smallness of the «yes» which you said to the Angel at Nazareth and which you continue to say to God at every instant for me.

You are my Mother by the testament of Christ on the Cross: «Woman, behold thy son» (Jn 19:26). I am your son by that same testament: «Behold thy mother» (Jn 19:27). And from that hour, says the Gospel, the disciple received you «among his own goods» (cf. Jn 19:27).

I receive you today, at this moment, among my goods — among the few things truly mine which no one can take from me. You are my Mother. I am all yours. «Totus tuus ego sum, Maria, et omnia mea tua sunt.»

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you.

Amen.
