Consecration of the Family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The Consecration of the Family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is the natural complement of the Consecration of the Family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (already present in Sacred Heart, Phase 3s) — according to the traditional teaching of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary as combined devotion. This consecration is especially commended in families on 13 May or 13 October (dates of the Fatima apparitions), on the feast of the Immaculate Heart (Saturday after the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart), on 1 January (Solemnity of the Divine Motherhood of Mary), and on 15 August (Assumption). Pius XII consecrated the whole world to the Immaculate Heart on 31.10.1942, renewing the gesture on 8.12.1942; Francis solemnly renewed the consecration on 25.03.2022 (Annunciation), including notably Russia and Ukraine, as response to the explicit request of Fatima of 13.06.1929 (Tuy).
(The whole family gathered before the image of the Immaculate One — preferably that of Our Lady of Fatima or of the Immaculate Heart — standing. The father or — in his absence — the mother or the eldest of the family reads aloud:)
Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Jesus and our Mother: today, together, all the members of our family solemnly consecrate our home to your sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.
Receive us under your maternal protection. Reign over each of those who live here or shall come here one day. Reign over our marriage, strengthening the sacramental bond which we celebrated before the altar. Reign over our children — those we already have and those whom you may yet entrust to us — keeping in them baptismal innocence as much as possible, and — if they fall — restoring to them the grace of reconciliation early. Reign over our parents and grandparents, living and deceased.
We ask you especially: (1) that each of us, within this house, may faithfully make the Five consecutive First Saturdays requested by you at Pontevedra; (2) that the Holy Rosary may be prayed in this house, in family, every day or at least every Friday; (3) that on the walls of our home an image of the Immaculate Heart may always be visible, beside the image of the Sacred Heart; (4) that the hour of death of each of us in this family may be assisted by your maternal presence, with all the graces necessary for eternal salvation.
«In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph» — you said at Fatima to Sister Lucia on 13.07.1917. May it begin with the triumph in our little home.
Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, save this family!
Amen.
(The family responds, three times:) Immaculate Heart of Mary, reign over our family!
Our Father. Hail Mary. Glory be.
