Prayer to the Holy Face of Jesus

Prayer of the devotion to the Holy Face revealed to the Carmelite Marie de Saint-Pierre de la Sainte Famille (Tours, 1844-48) as an antidote to blasphemy and to the profanation of the Lord’s Day. Indulgenced by Leo XIII (1885) and spread by the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face, based at the Carmel of Tours.

O adorable Face of Jesus, sole object worthy of the love and adoration of heaven and earth: we adore you, we love you, and we honour you with all the humility of our hearts, in reparation for the outrages you ceaselessly receive from blasphemers and from those who profane the holy Day of the Lord.

O most holy Face, splendour of the eternal Word and image of the Blessed Trinity: be for us, O Lord, the light that enlightens our understanding, the warmth that inflames our hearts, and the rest that calms our souls.

Remember, O Jesus, that this divine Face was offered by you to the Father as the ransom of our souls, and grant that neither death nor life, nor any power of heaven or earth, may ever separate us from your love. Amen.
