Prayer to St Pius X — for catechesis and students

Prayer of petition to St Pius X, the pope who reformed catechesis (encyclical Acerbo nimis, 1905) and brought forward the First Communion of children (decree Quam singulari, 1910). Traditionally prayed by catechists, students, and seminarians.

O Saint Pius X, pope of the Catechism and of the Communion of children, you who sought to restore all things in Christ, intercede for me and for all who labour at the teaching of the faith.

Sustain catechists in their mission; protect students in their tasks; enlighten seminarians in their formation; and bring little ones ever earlier and more often to the Eucharistic Table, the fount of grace and of true wisdom.

By your intercession, obtain for me this grace which I ask of you (mention petition) and a steady love for the doctrine of the Church — for, as you taught, the greatest calamity is not the ignorance of the wicked, but of the faithful. Amen.
