The Luminous Mysteries
Prayed on Thursdays. Added by St John Paul II in 2002, they contemplate the public life of the Lord.
- The Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan. The heavens open and the voice of the Father proclaims: this is my beloved Son. (Mt 3:13-17) — Fruit: baptismal grace.
- The Wedding at Cana. Mary’s intercession — do whatever he tells you — leads Jesus to manifest his glory. (Jn 2:1-12) — Fruit: trust in Mary.
- The proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the call to conversion. Jesus preaches the Good News and calls to metanoia. (Mk 1:14-15) — Fruit: sincere conversion.
- The Transfiguration on Mount Tabor. Christ manifests his glory before Peter, James, and John. (Mt 17:1-9) — Fruit: the desire for holiness.
- The institution of the Eucharist at the Last Supper. Jesus gives himself as the Bread of life. (Lk 22:14-20) — Fruit: devotion to the Blessed Sacrament.
