The Glorious Mysteries
Prayed on Wednesdays and Sundays. They contemplate the triumph of the risen Christ and the glorification of Mary.
- The Resurrection of Jesus. On the third day, the tomb is empty; the living Christ appears to Magdalene and to the disciples. (Mt 28:1-10) — Fruit: conversion of life.
- The Ascension of the Lord. Forty days after Easter, Jesus ascends to heaven in the presence of the Apostles. (Acts 1:6-11) — Fruit: the desire of heaven.
- The Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. Gathered with Mary in the Upper Room, they receive the Paraclete in tongues of fire. (Acts 2:1-11) — Fruit: the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- The Assumption of Mary into Heaven. The Mother of God, at the end of her earthly life, is taken body and soul into glory. — Fruit: devotion to Mary.
- The Coronation of Mary as Queen of Heaven and Earth. The Trinity crowns Mary Queen of Angels and Saints. — Fruit: perseverance and final grace.
