Act of Reparation to the Sacred Heart
Most sweet Jesus, whose overflowing charity for men is requited by so much forgetfulness, negligence and contempt, behold us prostrate before your altar eager to repair by a special act of homage the cruel indifference and injuries to which your loving Heart is everywhere subject.
Mindful that we also have shared in such great indignities, we wish first to make reparation for our own offences. We firmly resolve to expiate not only the sins we have ourselves committed, but also those of all who, straying far from the path of salvation, refuse to follow you, their Shepherd and Leader, or, renouncing the promises of their Baptism, have cast off the sweet yoke of your law.
We are now resolved to expiate each and every deplorable outrage committed against you. Amen.
In Latin
Iesu dulcissime, cuius effusa in homines caritas, tanta oblivione, negligentia, contemptione, ingratissime rependitur, en nos, ante altaria tua provoluti, tam nefariam hominum socordiam iniuriasque, quibus undique amantissimum Cor tuum afficitur, peculiari honore resarcire contendimus.
Attamen, memores tantæ nos quoque indignitatis non expertes aliquando fuisse, indeque vehementissimo dolore commoti, tuam imprimis misericordiam nobis imploramus, parati, voluntaria expiatione compensare flagitia non modo quæ ipsi patravimus, sed etiam illorum, qui, longe a salutis via aberrantes, vel te pastorem ducemque sectari detrectant, vel, abnegata baptismatis fide, legum tuarum iugum proiecerunt.
Quæ deploranda piacula universa expiare contendimus. Amen.
